Rich Zellman
Growing up in So. California, Rich's fishing began inshore, casting live sardines underneath kelp patties and into boiling bait balls for yellowtail off the coast of Oceanside, Ca. Spending summers fishing for trout at his dad's property in the trout rich waters east of Redding, Ca, he eventually moved to Redding and became a certified trout bum.
It didn't take long to begin exploring the Trinity River, hooking a steelhead in the first run he'd ever fished for them, not really knowing what exactly these fish were. These steelhead combined the power of the ocean with the beauty of a mountain river and its trout. Rich was consumed by them. From then on, all of his free time, nearly 200 days a year, were now devoted to steelhead and the rivers they returned to. He never strays for very long from the rivers near home, the rivers he now guides.
Not just another steelhead guide. A relaxed, patient, hands-on, driven approach to put you in the best water, at the best time, with the best flies and presentation make Rich stand out amongst the crowd.
Steelheading for Rich is not just a passion, it's a life dedicated to the pursuit.
