Finally, the spring rains have subsided and summer seems to be making it's way through the front door. 80 to 90 degree weather, shines through the extended forecast. It's summer time, and the living is easy.

Spent the first weekend of summer on the North. The river was running at a flow I drool over throughout the winter months, but not so much in the middle of June. But, it is the middle of June and I couldn't stop myself from going. The flows are high enough that there is nothing to slow these early fish down, at all, but this early season is all about luck anyway.

The fishing was good, didn't get a touch.

Taking a chance to see a fish trying to jump the falls.

None showed.

Been playing around with an extended body dry for the past three seasons and I think this is the final product. From limited trout fishing, I've always been drawn to extended body dries, they just look so cool. And you know that the fly doesn't matter for steelhead, right. So, this is what I came up with this short off season, they beg to be fished across a pregnant run. Confidence is key.
