These are a few shots I got from a friend that, well, kind of blew my mind. I know steelhead live under the ice up in B.C. throughout the winter but I've never heard of it getting that cold here in Oregon. Last fall we did see some lasting cold temperatures, this is what happened.

 

 The ice here got so thick you could walk on it. In the next pic you can see a rock on top of the ice that was thrown about twenty feet above the river. The rock was about 8" by 6".
